✅ Description:

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system mistakenly attacks the joints, leading to inflammation, pain, and swelling, particularly in the lining of the joints. This often results in symmetrical joint involvement, meaning the same joints on both sides of the body are affected, which distinguishes RA from osteoarthritis.

Baricitinib is a medication used to treat moderate to severe RA. It works by inhibiting Janus kinase (JAK) enzymes, which play a role in the signaling pathways that lead to inflammation. By blocking the release of chemicals that cause pain and swelling, Baricitinib helps to alleviate joint symptoms such as pain, stiffness, and inflammation. It may be prescribed alone or in combination with methotrexate or disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs).

  • Baricitinib is taken with or without food, as directed by a doctor.
  • The dosage and duration of treatment are based on the severity of the condition.
  • It's important to take it at the same time each day for consistent therapeutic effects.
  • Do not discontinue or adjust the dose without consulting a doctor.

Common side effects include:

  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Skin rash
  • Sore throat
  • Diarrhea

If these effects persist or worsen, it's important to consult a healthcare provider.

  • Do not take Baricitinib if allergic to it or its components.
  • Not recommended for use in patients under 18 years old.
  • Baricitinib should be used cautiously in patients with these conditions. A healthcare provider will assess the risks and benefits before prescribing.

Always follow your healthcare provider’s instructions and never exceed the prescribed dosage.

✔️ Indication of Baricent 4

Baricitinib is used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.

✔️ Pharmacology

Baricitinib is a selective inhibitor of Janus kinase 1 (JAK1) and Janus kinase 2 (JAK2). These enzymes are involved in signaling pathways that regulate immune and inflammatory responses. By inhibiting JAK1 and JAK2, Baricitinib reduces the activation of signal transducers and activators of transcription (STATs), which leads to decreased inflammation and immune activity in rheumatoid arthritis.
